Waverly House

Joyner Group were appointed by Developments Bristol to install a SFS system and adequate fire stopping, a non-combustible sheathing board and an A1 non-combustible EWI system to Waverly House, Clevedon, Bristol in 2020.

Waverly House, previously an office building, has been redeveloped into modern flats.

The existing building was steel frame with large steel purlins on every floor level. These could not be removed as it would impact the structural integrity of the building so these purlins would need to be incorporated into the SFS design. The works started early 2020 which were disrupted after several weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Joyner Group appointed Hadley Steel Framing to undertake the design of the SFS. They designed a capping plate that could be fitted to the existing purlins to support the SFS base track and also incorporated additional brackets to studs. Along with the rest of the industry, Joyner Group stopped work on site at the end of March 2020. A safe method of work was put in place to ensure that social distancing was adhered to and enable our team on site to continue working. Joyner Groups contract works were completed the end of May 2020.

A total of 900m2 of SFS and sheathing board was installed, along with 600m2 of Alsecco A1 non-combustible EWI system and 250m2 of Alsecco render only.
