Alumno Student Accommodation –

Leamington Spa

The Joyner Group were appointed by Interserve Construction Ltd to undertake the external facades element to the Former British Telecom Site in Leamington Spa, becoming blocks of student accommodation.

The pre requisite of the Client-’Alumno Developments’ and the Architect–’Glen Howells Architects’ was that although this was a new build project ,that the requirement was to achieve the appearance of a period style industrial brick finish to be in keeping with the local area ,mirroring the history of the Grand Union Canal that runs alongside this now impressive building.

An Ecomin 400 system utilizing a traditional clinker style 15mm Brick Slip was chosen and supplied by Alsecco. This system was made up of a High Density Mineral Fibre insulation with both 180mm and 70mm thicknesses being used to create the recess detailing.
The insulation being both adhesively and mechanically fixed with the 3rd and 4th storeys being fire pinned to conform to the current building regulations. The insulation was then rendered with a fibre basecoat and fully meshed. Close to 140000 brick slips were adhered to the substrate , with pre cut pistols being used on all corners and recess details. A contrasting coloured grout was then applied to all brick joints.

For The Joyner Group the project commenced around January of 2017 and was completed toward the end of July 2017.with an approximate value of £550,000
